Former Need for Speed Unbound developers open their own studio

At the end of 2022, after the release of Need for Speed Undound, five developers left Criterion Games: Matt Webster, Pete Lake, Andrey Shires, Alan McDairmant and Steve Uphill. Now it became known that they founded their own development studio - Fuse Games.

The team is currently looking for an office in Guildford. There are 17 developers in total, but the studio is open to new specialists. It is noted that the format of work will be hybrid.

According to Webster, the studio will create games quickly and in a healthy atmosphere, without rework. People in the team will be able to feel safe and be themselves. In addition, it is noted that with a game creation period of two or three years, only a limited number of projects can be created in a lifetime, which means that less money will be earned.

The first game from Fuse Games will be big budget and is being developed for PC and consoles. No additional details were shared. Webster says they're masters of racing sims, but have had a hand in shooting shooters and VR games over the years.
