CD Projekt Red has announced a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 codenamed Project Orion. The developers posted their long-term development plan on Twitter and noted that Project Orion "will push the Cyberpunk franchise forward and continue to exploit the potential of this dark future universe."
Adam Kiczynski, president and CEO of CD Projket, has announced that the next three games in development will be based on the Witcher franchise, meaning that a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is expected in the distant future. The studio will open a new development center in Boston that will focus on Project Orion, along with an office in Vancouver called CD Projekt Red North America.
The first game after The Witcher 3, codenamed Polaris, will be followed by two more sequels in the trilogy. According to CDPR's strategy document, all three games will be released within six years of the release of the first. The two additional Witcher games, codenamed Sirius and Canis Majoris, will be created by developer The Molasses Flood and an unnamed external studio led by "an experienced developer who has worked on past Witcher games."
Polaris will start a new trilogy, which the other two listed games do not belong to. One of them will have multiplayer elements.
