The authors of A Plague Tale reworked the first part after internal tests

For many players, the dark adventure game A Plague Tale: Innocence from the modest studio Asobo came as a big surprise, but the development of the project was far from easy.

As the game director of the now dilogy, Kevin Shoto, told Eurogamer, the very first version of the original game showed very poor results during internal review, when the game was offered to be evaluated by people from outside. The developers had to redo a lot to bring the project to the state in which Innocence was presented at release.

According to Shoto, "fake" reviews showed that the game would receive a score in the region of 55-60%, and this greatly demoralized the developers - the studio even suspended the production of the project.

Changes had to be made to each chapter, and some of them were radically reworked.

Fortunately, despite the emergence of the need for additional funding for the game, the publisher in the person of Focus Entertainment believed in the team and provided the necessary resources - the project was delayed for another nine months.

A Plague Tale: Innocence made it to release on May 14, 2019, receiving very positive feedback from both the players and the specialized press. In 2022, the game received a direct sequel. A Plague Tale: Requiem's ratings were slightly higher, and the adventure itself took fourth place in the top of the best games of the year according to Igromania.
