Analysts from GSD presented statistics on sales in the gaming industry in Europe for August. Grand Theft Auto V, the relaunch of Saints Row and FIFA 22 topped the list. Gran Turismo 7 managed to double sales in August compared to July.
In total, over the past month, 7.7 million copies of video games were sold in Europe, both in physical media and digitally. At the same time, a 12.4% drop in sales was recorded compared to the same period in 2021. In terms of numbers, GTA 5 was the leader, and on discs, Nintendo Switch Sports.
A total of 310,000 consoles were sold in the monitored European markets in August, down 19% compared to the same period in 2021. The leader is the Nintendo Switch. GSD notes that the statistics do not include data from the main European markets of Germany and the UK.
In terms of accessories, 1.18 million were sold, down 9% from August 2021. PS5 DualSense is in the lead.
